Jenks Trojans

BOYS

Coach: Clay Martin

18-19 Record: 18-8

The boys are back in town and taking care of business as the Jenks Trojans look to build off the success of last season. Head coach Clay Martin said of his team, “Lots of youth who have a chance to be very good. Ike, Anfernee and Chase Martin had major roles on a big step forward last season. Their leadership is paramount.” Ike Houston (6-4, Sr.) is one of the more underrated guards in the class. The senior should get the respect he deserves this season after averaging 9.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per game last year. Anfernee Nelson (6-4, Sr.) averaged 10 points and 5.0 rebounds and is one of the toughest players in the class to guard. Chase Martin (6-5, So.) is a young talent with a high ceiling. Martin averaged 8.5 points with 4.0 rebounds. Several players are working hard to complete the starting lineup. Trendon Tisdale (6-1, Sr.) looks to contribute at guard while Chase Conkling (6-5, Sr.) is a big forward expected to see the court this season. Benjamin Averitt (6-5, So.) and Cain Smith (5-11, So.) are two sophomores coach Martin is excited to see mature. Braxton Scott (5-9, Sr.) is an intelligent player with a nose for defense. Seth Wilkins (6-2, So.) is another sophomore looking to make his mark on the 2019-20 season. The coaching staff includes Kalin Dahl, Gregg Calabrese, Mike Haesloop and Will Finfrock.

GIRLS

Coach: Mike Acord

18-19 Record: 11-12

Coach Mike Acord has four starters returning this season and the expectations are growing as the Lady Trojans finally have a team that features a solid group of seniors. “With four returning starters and multiple skilled sophomores, our roster is well-rounded with players who are hungry for success. Our players are embracing a fast-paced style of play and will be fun to watch in the 2019-20 season.” Makenna Burch (5-7, Sr.) leads the way after averaging 20.1 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.7 steals a game. Sydney Ellis (5-8, Sr.) knocked in 6.9 points and 2.4 rebounds last year and is looking for more this season. Trinity Jackson (6-2, Sr.) may be the x-factor for the Lady Trojans. Her play in the paint will be crucial. Last season Jackson accounted for 5.5 points and 10.3 rebounds. Haley Meely (5-4, Sr.) is the sparkplug running the point. Meely averaged 12.7 points, 5.3 assists and 1.7 steals a game. Avery Franklin (5-3, Sr.) and Kiara Brown (5-10, So.) are two players to keep an eye on this season. Other to watch include Bri Johnson (5-9, So.), Leanne Morris (5-5, Sr.) and Cassandra Bebee (5-9, Sr.). Assistant coaches include Amanda Taylor and Taneisha Aeschleman.
