El Reno Indians

BOYS

Coach: Kale Simon

18-19 Record: 20-8

After their appearance in the state semifinals, El Reno is hungry to get back to post-season play. But before they pack their bags for Oral Roberts University, the Indians must first answer questions about the starting lineup. Only two starters return from last year’s team. Gana Nicholson (6-1, Sr.) averaged 3.1 points and 3.0 rebounds a game. Nicholson is joined in the backcourt by Blaine Fasthorse (6-0, Sr.). The pair will give El Reno a solid defensive backcourt and two players who are willing to work hard on every play. Cherwin Black is a new addition to the team and one the coaching staff is excited to see play. Dorian Plumley (6-1, Jr.) returns as the team-leading scorer after averaging 7.5 points with 4.5 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game. Darius Moore (6-0, Jr.) was hurt last season, but is expected to make a big impact this season in his return. Kolton Hunt (6-3, Jr.) can average 2.3 points and 1.5 rebounds a game, while Kevin Bigfoot (5-11, Jr.) can have similar numbers from his guard spot. Also look for Jay Gililland (6-4, Jr.) to make the most of his minutes after suffering an injury that put him out for the season a year ago. Coach Simon believes this is a reload year, not a rebuild year!

GIRLS

Coach: Jennifer Douglas

18-19 Record: 18-11

A state runner-up finish last year has hopes and expectations high for this year. Head coach Jennifer Douglas is ready for the challenge. “We will miss the leadership and inside presence from the 2019 class. However, we are excited to play more up tempo, more girls will be in the rotation, and younger girls will have the opportunity to step up as leaders,” said Douglas. Ashlyn Evans-Thompson (5-8, So.) is a dynamic player for El Reno. Last year she averaged 14.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 2.0 steals a game. Couple her in the backcourt with Jaylin Reveles (5-8, Jr.), who averaged 9.0 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.3 steals a game, and you have one of the top duos in the class. Kayla Jones (5-5, Sr.) brings leadership and her 3.6 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.1 steals a game to the floor. Kenzie Holsted (5-6, Jr.) averaged 4.5 points with 2.0 rebounds and is expected to be a starter. As is Arianna Long (5-10, Sr.) who scored 2.0 points and 2.8 rebounds a game. Paige Primeaux (5-10, So.) will see time at forward giving El Reno another rebounder in the paint.
