OFFENSE

Warrior football is all about a wide-open, full-throttle attack with multiple receivers and backs attacking the defense. With nine returning starters on offense that went 12-2 last season, Adair is excited to get back on the field. VYPE Top 100 selectee Barrett Bradbury (6-0, 165, Sr.) caught 26 passes for 491 yards and six touchdowns last season and is one of those receivers capable of making a game-changing play. Another receiver to watch is Garrett Long (6-0, 160, Jr.) who caught 50 balls for 932 yards and 10 scores. The pair are formidable, but finding a quarterback to get them the ball was the priority this spring. Tight end Brock Borin (6-4, 240, Sr.) had 18 receptions for 254 yards and a TD last season. Borin was also named to the VYPE Top 100. Lucas Hendrex (5-10, 220, Sr.) starts at guard and Avery Couch (6-2, 260, Sr.) will start at center. Running back Jacob Lappe (5-9, 155, Sr.) rushed for 789 yards on 113 carries last year and scored 13 TDs. His ability to put up good numbers every game adds another element to the offense and makes Adair a well-balanced team.

DEFENSE

Gunnar Rader (5-10, 215, Sr.) leads all returning defensive starters in tackles with 120 last season. He also added three sacks and one interception. Hendrex will start on the defensive line, where he recorded 69 tackles and three sacks last season. Borin will play end, giving the Warriors an edge rusher. In 2018, Borin had 47 tackles, four sacks and one fumble recovery. Bradbury helps shore up the secondary at free safety while Long starts at strong safety. Long grabbed four interceptions last season and made 73 tackles as a sophomore. The Warriors will work out of the 3-4 scheme as they look to pressure the quarterback and shut down the run. “We’re very excited about having several returning starters,” Gilstrap said, “and just as excited about the new faces that will have to fill in some important spots on both sides of the ball.”
