WESTVILLE YELLOWJACKETS

Coach: ED BAKER

1-9

OFFENSE

Westville seeks to create a swarm of excitement this fall as five returning starters are surrounded by several other experienced players under the Friday night lights.

Ty Unger (5-11, 230, Jr.) and Spencer Simmons (6-3, 205, Jr.) provide starters’ experience in the offensive line as Ronald Mouse (5-9, 225, Sr.) and Brody Buffington  (5-8, 230, So.) are expected to fill key roles in the lineup.

Wide receiver Daxton Hembree (5-11, 180, So.) and running back Matt Mouse (5-6, 150, Jr.) will be counted on for highlight-reel moments. They’ll be joined by Ethan Duran (5-6, 170, Sr.), Derek Tyer (5-9, 130, So.), Dylan Hignite (5-8, 145, Sr.) and tight end David Fletcher (6-1, 240, Sr.) as passing targets for quarterback Bryson Bigfeather (5-7, 145, So.).

DEFENSE

The sting of the defensive unit includes seven starters with a year of experience.

Derek Tyler and Matt Mouse return to the Yellowjackets’ secondary unit, along with Daxton Hembree. Whether in the defensive line or at linebacker, head coach Ed Baker will rely upon David Fletcher to be a game-changer, along with Ty Unger and Aaron Stephenson (6-0, 300, Sr.), who give size to the line of scrimmage.

Bryson Bigfeather returns at linebacker and is joined by Ethan Duran and Ronald Mouse for run support or pass coverage.

Baker also expects Eric Crittenden (5-11, 275, Sr.), David Watson (5-10, 275, Sr.) Brody Buffington and Denton Bruner to bolster play in the trenches.

“We’re going to be young again this season,” said Baker, who enters his second year on the Westville sideline as head coach. “Our ability to gain confidence will result from the commitment to our summer workouts and practices to give us a chance to prepare for this year and achieve success.
