OFFENSE

The impact of graduation losses to the lineup has created an atmosphere of competition for the Bearcats new Dustin Beasley, who spent the past 10 seasons at Cordell. Despite having just two starters returning to the offensive lineup, Beasley is inspired by the efforts of this year’s players ready for their turn in the spotlight. Austin Wolfe (5-11, 260, Jr.) brings mobility and physical passion to the offensive line along with the energy of Bobby Williams (5-10, 230, Sr.), Garrett Bailey (6-1, 195, So.), Triston Ingram 6-0, 270, So.) and Tyler Green (5-9, 250, So.). The competition between Isaac Sorrels (6-1, 175, Jr.) and Andrew Arnold (5-10, 150, So.) will give the Bearcats a variety of offensive options at quarterback. Beasley expects to see running back Brody Wayman (5-9, 155, Sr.) make an impact to the running game while Zach Green (6-0, 175, Jr.), Conner Hammond and Dakota Trapp (6-1, 180, Fr.) provide sure-handed receivers. “We’ll be multiple in formation operating from a wide-open spread or the wishbone,” Beasley said. “We just want to maximize the talents of our skill kids against each opponent.”

DEFENSE

The spirit of the Bearcat defense will be aggressive on every snap. Austin Wolfe returns to ignite the high energy lineup at defensive end while Garrett Bailey and Isaac Sorrels take the field at linebacker.  Up front, Beasley anchor the line of scrimmage with Triston Ingram, Bobby Williams and Tyler Green. The secondary unit will use the leadership of Brody Wayman to partner with Zach Green, Conner Hammond, Andrew Arnold and Dakota Trapp. “There are several others in the heat of the competition that will have their chance to be a game-changer,” Beasley said. “Our defensive approach is simple – get 11 players to the football fast and with great effort.” The 2019 schedule favors the Bearcats to make the best of the home-field advantage with three of their first four games in front of the hometown crowd.
