OFFENSE

DYNASTY…it’s a word that can easily be associated with the gridiron success of the Indians football program. Since the turn of the century, Shattuck has won 11 state championships including last year’s undefeated 14-0 campaign.  With two rings on his hand, John Bay (6-1, 210, Sr.) will draw the task of leading his team to a third consecutive Class B title.  Kole Crawford (5-10, 200, Sr.) will play a major role in the chase for gold at running back along with Samuel Long (6-0, 175, Jr.) who will also see action at the receiver position lining up with tight end Jadyn Frazier (6-1, 175, Jr.). Thanks to graduation, coach Troy Bullard and staff will have to rebuild its road grader like offensive front to fully empower an offense that was virtually unstoppable running or throwing the football totaling over 50 points per contest.

DEFENSE

A year ago, the defense of the Indians limited their 14 victims to an average of only 12 points per game. Like the offense unit, the reconstruction efforts will revolved around the play of four returning starters.  John Bay and Jadyn Frazier will play “contain and punish” from their defensive end positions while Kole Crawford will provide a reckoning force at linebacker. Pass coverage and run support will be the read and react assignments for Samuel Long and Brendan Girton (6-2, 180, Sr.) in the secondary. While the expectations for winning at Shattuck won’t change, coach Bullard acknowledged a need to reload the lineup in 2019. “We lost a lot of seniors that helped us win a lot of game the past four years (50),” replied Bullard. “We need some sophomore kids to step up and we need to stay healthy.”
