The Riders’ ability to put the pieces together include replacing 10 of 11 starters on the offensive unit that helped the team advance to the second round of the Class A playoffs. James Bruce (5-7, 150, Sr.) will use his speed and mobility to create offensive productivity at tailback or slot receiver while Jonathan Jones (6-1, 180, Sr.) directs the Riders run-pass option-oriented spread attack. Adding to the point parade will be tailback Mason Hill (5-11, 175, Sr.) and wide receiver Donnie Girdner (5-10, 175, Sr.). The driving force for the Riders ground attack has been the brute force of the offensive line, where new head coach Scott Sapulpa will rely upon the play of Jacob Beall (6-0, 240, Sr.) and Damon Ballou (6-0, 220, Sr.).

Despite having no returning starters to this year’s defense, Sapulpa expects to find aggressive and attacking results out of a 3-3 stack formation led by five seniors. The deep-threat coverage will be spearheaded by James Bruce and Johnathan Jones while the linebacker rotation of Mason Hill, Donnie Girdner and Jacob Beall will anchor the physical style of play along with Gage Parrott (5-10, 165, Jr.). “Work hard in preparation and play hard on every snap will be our battle cry,” Sapulpa said. “Getting better every day will lead to success on Friday nights.”
