OFFENSE

The two-time defending state champions are back and reloaded with another group of players capable of making a run at the Class C gold ball. Head coach Travis White thinks youth may be an issue, but if they mature this group could work some magic and make it back to the title game to defend their place at the top.

“We have some big holes to fill, graduating eight seniors. Underclassmen will have to mature quickly. We will look to be competitive in our district and put ourselves in a good position for the playoffs,” said coach White.

Getting back to their roots of power football is the priority. SemaJ McBride (5-9, 150) and Jeremiah Smith (6-0, 185) are charged with that challenge, as well as the guys up front. Chandler Segovia (5-11, 255) has the task of leading a young but talented offensive line. Lane Chandler (5-11, 170) will lead the offense at quarterback and Bryce Waugh (5-11, 170) gets the start at tight end.

DEFENSE

Waugh and Segovia will start on the line with Waugh at end and at tackle. Damian Fierro (5-8, 205) will slide inside to play nose guard. Waugh recorded 79 tackles last season, 12 tackles for loss. He also batted 10 balls and had one pick. McBride will start at one of the defensive back spots. In 2017, he snagged 10 interceptions and notched 65 tackles. Smith had excellent production at linebacker accounting for 82 tackles, 12 tackles for loss and three interceptions.

Assistant coaches include Teddy White and Jim Kerbo.
