OFFENSE

Eight starters return to the Locust Grove offense this year led by a three-headed monster of skill position players.

At quarterback Caden Bedabout (5-10, 160, Jr.) is back after throwing for 1,500 yards and 16 touchdowns as a sophomore. Nathan Blackbear (6-1, 160, Sr.) returns at receiver after a 450-yard and seven-touchdown junior campaign. Last but not least, Travis Brown (5-8, 165, Jr.) returns at running back after rushing for 900 yards, picking up 450 more receiving and scoring nine total touchdowns.

The cupboard definitely isn’t bare once you get past the Pirates’ main triumvirate though. Zane Loffer (5-10, 170, Sr.) returns at H-back this year after picking up 550 total yards and seven touchdowns as a junior. Offensive tackles Caleb Bates (6-2, 280, Sr.) and Justin Littlebear (6-1, 285, Sr.) are also returning. Bates is a three-year starter for the Pirates and Littlebear is a four-year starter who had 40 pancake blocks last year.

DEFENSE

The Pirates’ defense will be even more experienced than their offense with nine starters returning this year.

In the secondary Jalen Allen (6-2, 210, Sr.) is back at strong safety this season looking to add to his 245 career tackles and four career interceptions. Bendabout and Loffer will also start in the secondary with Bendabout playing corner and Loffer at free safety. Last season Bendabout made 57 tackles and picked off three passes while Loffer had 65 tackles and one interception.

Locust Grove will also have a duo of very talented outside linebackers returning this year. Kyle Panther (5-8, 165, Sr.) made 119 tackles, nine sacks and intercepted two passes last year while his partner in crime Sid Frailey (5-8, 160, Sr.) had 105 tackles and three sacks.

On the defensive line it will be Littlebear leading the charge after a junior season where he recorded 56 tackles and 10 tackles for loss.
