On winning around a quarter of their games last season, head coach Jeff Brickman is looking to get his program back on track.

“We had a good offseason,” said coach Brickman. “Our team gained on average of 437 pounds of strength per player in power clean, bench and squat. In 17 years of coaching, it’s the most gain I have seen in an off season. We have spent lots of time improving our defense this offseason. I feel that our players have bought  in to our “all-in” culture. We also expected a lot out of our incoming sophomore class.” On offense the team will be returning four of last year’s starters with a lot of those players being some talented skill players. Running the ball will be two special players, halfback Cade Thompson (6-3, 240) and running back Solomon Granger (5-10, 175). Both players recorded some impressive stats last season with Thompson scoring eight touchdowns on 621 yards of offense and Granger scoring two touchdowns averaging 9.2 yards a carry. Playing receiver for the Racers this season will be Kyndell Rodgers (6-3, 175), who caught the ball 27 times last season for 264 yards and two touchdowns. Another player catching balls for the team is slot receiver Jake Cox (5-7, 160), who picked up two receptions for 17 yards. Players to watch for on the line this season will be offensive linemen AJ McMann (6-2, 175) and tight end Wade Sharp (6-3, 230), who is making a switch this season after playing last year at right tackle.

The Racers will return five players from last year’s roster on defense with some players know for their action on the defensive line. Playing on the line this season will be defensive end McCann and noseguard Blake Rogers (6-4, 280). The two recorded some stats for their team last season with Rogers getting 10 tackles for his team and McCann tackling his opponent 54 times with two sacks. The players returning from the secondary will be safety Rodgers and corner Granger. The two combined to achieve 84 tackles last season with Granger intercepting the ball one time. Rounding out the returning players will be linebackers Wade Sharp (6-3, 230) and Kruz Vargas (5-9, 205). Sharp got his team 46 tackles last season with four of those being a sack and Vargas tackled the other team 31 times.
